This vaccine was specifically adapted for the BA4 and BA5 Omicron variants and was recommended for approval in the EU on Monday.
At the earliest, the first deliveries of the latest coronavirus vaccine developed by BioNTech/Pfizer are expected to arrive late next week, otherwise early the following week. High Commissioner for National Security Luc Feller confirmed this to our colleagues from RTL.lu upon enquiry. BA5 is currently the most prevalent coronavirus variant in Luxembourg.
Last week, the Grand Duchy already received deliveries of adjusted coronavirus vaccines from BioNTech/Pfizer and Moderna. The 85,700 doses are being used for booster shots as of this week. These vaccines were developed on the basis of the BA1 Omicron variant.
